Installation of “Textures 3-D” Wall Panels
We recently had the opportunity to set up a few 3-D textured walls for a local Dermatology clinic in the Knoxville area. The project was to include painting of the entire interior of the building including the lobby, treatment rooms, hallways, lab, and other occupied spaces. In addition to painting, they requested we install two 3D accent walls.
The painting portion of the project used two coats of paint with a white accent wall in treatment and consultation rooms. We used Sherwin Williams Duration Acrylic Latex with a Matte finish.
About the 3D Wall installation:
The 3D wall installation was to be added to the right & left sides of the lobby walls.
The installation included: test aligning panels on the floor to ensure continuous pattern flow. Using chalk lines and any other means to ensure the first panel is level then working from the bottom towards the top of the wall. We applied Liquid Nails Paneling Adhesive to the back of the first panel, then used a trowel to distribute the adhesive over the entire surface. Once the panel was placed on the wall and the location marked, we used a nail gun with headless nails, shot approximately 12″ apart to secure each panel. Once each panel was installed, we spackled seams and sanded smooth to paint ready. We then applied one coat of acrylic primer before adding two full coats of Duration Interior Acrylic paint in a Matte finish.
We love the way this came out, it adds a unique visual element and gives the appearance of movement and depth, making for a great feature in retail, healthcare, and hospitality applications.
