Denver Neighborhoods We Paint: A Local Guide from CertaPro Painters
Posted on April 4, 2026
Denver’s neighborhoods each have their own character: Victorians and Denver Squares on Capitol Hill, brick Tudors in Park Hill, bungalows around Wash Park, and newer homes on the former airfields at Lowry and Stapleton. A mile above sea level, they all face intense sun, hail, and big temperature swings. CertaPro Painters® of Denver plans every project around the age of the home and the neighborhood it’s in.
Here’s a look at the areas we serve and what homes in each one tend to need.
What Denver Weather Does to Paint
- High-altitude sun. Stronger UV at elevation fades color and breaks down paint faster, especially on south- and west-facing walls.
- Temperature swings. A 40-degree change in a day isn’t unusual. Surfaces expand and contract, which cracks paint and caulk.
- Hail. Summer storms chip and pit siding, trim, and garage doors.
- Dry air and freeze-thaw. Wood dries out and checks, and snowmelt works into every gap.
Historic Central Denver: Capitol Hill and Park Hill
Some of the city’s oldest homes are here, with detailed wood trim, wide porches, and a lot of brick.
- Capitol Hill: Victorians, Denver Squares, and historic mansions, many divided into condos and apartments.
- Park Hill: Brick Tudors, bungalows, and Denver Squares on wide, tree-lined streets.
Older homes reward patient prep and a well-planned color scheme. See our Victorian house painting service. Homes built before 1978 may also have lead-based paint, and we’re EPA Lead Certified to handle it safely.
Wash Park and the University Area
- Washington Park: Classic bungalows and Tudors next to pop-tops and new custom builds.
- Denver University: Brick bungalows and ranches around campus, including plenty of rental properties.
Brick is everywhere in these neighborhoods. If yours looks dated, ask about our brick painting service.
Cherry Creek North
- Cherry Creek North: Townhomes, duplexes, and contemporary homes where clean lines and fine finishes matter.
Inside, details make the difference. We offer cabinet refinishing, staircase and banister painting, and crown molding painting.
Denver’s Redeveloped Airfields: Stapleton and Lowry
Both neighborhoods were built on former airfields starting around the turn of the 2000s, and both have design guidelines for exterior colors.
- Stapleton (now Central Park): Newer homes with painted siding and trim that take full sun on open, young-tree streets.
- Lowry: A mix of newer homes, townhomes, and converted base buildings.
Many of these homes are reaching the age where the original paint is done. A color consultation helps you pick colors that fit community guidelines.
Aurora
- Aurora: Everything from 1950s ranches to brand-new subdivisions, many in HOA communities.
For faded siding, our vinyl and aluminum siding painting restores color without replacement. We also work with associations through our HOA painting team.
