Description of Project: The unique home had multiple colors and types of surfaces in need of an update. The brick was its original light color. The wood siding was a faded light blue color, and the trim and accents were brown. They also had deck beams and posts that had not been treated.

Project Involvement: The project involved painting or staining multiple areas or accents of the home, in addition to the mailbox, shed, and decking. We started the project by prepping all necessary surfaces. Washed the home, removing all dirt and debris, scraped and sanded (where necessary), and caulked any previously caulked areas—doors and windows—where painting was taking place. For the brick, we used a specific wash so the surface would accept the primer and paint. We then started painting and staining. The areas included were siding, trim, brick, roof vents, mailboxes, sheds, deck beams and posts, gutters, downspouts, all doors, and two small wood bridges. There were multiple colors and products that were used, and each area required multiple coats.

Special Challenges: We had to be sure to match the correct colors and products to the correct surfaces. Overall, there were four different colors and four different products being used to paint or stain the home.

Special Techniques: The brick requires a specific wash to be used so it will absorb the paint.
