Commercial Carpentry Repair

Our carpentry team was recently hired to perform extensive repairs on the decks of eight apartment buildings, with 4-6 units per building. The decks had begun to rot and warp due to weather exposure and simply their age. The connection joints that connect the wooden boards to the support posts were also failing due to rust. The project took about 2 months to complete, and involved essentially replacing the entirety of the decks, aside from the support beams.

The main purpose of the project was to replace the current wood deck boards with new composite decking.

We added new joists, post base brackets on many of the decks for additional support.

Timber screws were anchored to the support beams and the vertical supports that were cracked or split were replaced.

We also used color match trim head screws where it was necessary.

We had to remove the had railings to install the new composite decking and then reinstall the handrails once completed.

All of the decks were inspected and approved before and after by different engineering reports.

We also had to work with the tenants to make sure they were updated on every stage of the project for their safety.

Due to the different color schemes of the units, it was important to plan out the painting schedule in advance.

The decks also ranged in sizes, so each deck had to be treated as its own miniature project.

Both the apartment owners and the residents were very satisfied with the results.
