CertaPro Painters® of Cincinnati recently completed a project at the Thermo Fisher facility in Highland Heights, KY, where they repainted the generator enclosure and it’s fuel tank. Description of Project: We were contracted to paint the generator enclosure and fuel tank of the Thermo Fisher building in Highland Heights. Both the generator enclosure and fuel tank were worn down, loosing original color and rusting in certain areas.

Project Involvement: This project required a lot of prep work before the painting began.

The prep work included, hand Scraping any loose paint, removing any existing decals, grinding down all rusted areas, and hand cleaning the entire surface areas. We then fully primed both the Generator and fuel tank with a rust inhibiting primer.

Once prep work was complete, we applied two finish coatings on both surfaces with an industrial urethane enamel gloss product in the same color as previously used.

Special Challenges: The prep work had to be done correctly, especially in the rusted area, so the primer and paint would adhere to the surface being painted.

Special Equipment: Power tools were used to grind down rust in certain areas, and due to the surfaces being painted-generator and fuel tank cover, proper personal protective equipment was required.
