Warm Neutrals are Back
Posted on January 5, 2021
Over the past several years, shades of gray have taken the paint world by storm. In fact, our team at CertaPro Painters® of Cedar Rapids have painted many homes gray. This cool toned neutral became widely popular due to its versatility and diverse range of undertones. It will still be seen in many homes over the next several years. However, what ever happened to warm neutrals?
Neutral paint colors in homes can actually now be considered nostalgic. In 2009, the most
popular neutral paint was a beige shade that had a warm tan undertone. In contrast, in 2019 the
most popular paint was gray. This is due to the fact that cool tones, such as gray, have grown to
be seen as much more modern and stylish. However, if you are a beige paint lover, don’t worry!
Warmer neutrals are and will continue to be slowly creeping back into more and more homes.
So, which warm neutrals are considered trendy again? Keep reading to find out!
1. Beige
Beige is perhaps making the biggest comeback of all the warm neutrals. Specifically,
dark beige. It adds depth to the room without it being too bold of a color choice. Earthy
décor and the use of deep greens and whites is a theme we see in many of today’s
homes. Beige walls are the perfect color to pair with earthy décor and this is probably
the reason it is making such a comeback!
2. Brown
Cozy vibes are something we all strive for and brown walls can give us that. Brown
works particularly well in smaller rooms, making them look much larger than they
actually are. If you feel that every wall being painted brown is too much of a statement
for you, then consider a brown accent wall. Many people overlook this color, thinking it is
boring. But it is far from it! It brings friendly, earthy style into any room.
3. Off-White
Off-white paint is a perfect substitute for getting that all white modern look. The warm
undertones make it more welcoming and better suited for our homes than just a white
splashed room. You pair any bright, fun colors with off-white walls as well.
