Frontier Academy Gymnasium Painting Project in Greeley, CO

Scope of the Work:

The project began with extensive drywall repairs throughout the gym, including patching holes, addressing settling cracks, and carefully matching existing wall textures so repaired areas would blend into the surrounding surfaces. Once preparation was complete, the gymnasium and hallway walls were fully primed and repainted using scuff-resistant coatings selected for high-traffic environments.

The scope also extended to doors and frames throughout the facility. Interior doors and frames were refinished on both sides, while exterior doors and frames were pressure washed, prepared, primed, and repainted. The exterior portion was added during the project, requiring the team to adjust production planning and coordinate the additional work around changing weather conditions.

Challenges & Solutions:

Maintaining access to the gym and minimizing disruption to school activities were important considerations throughout the project. Floors were thoroughly protected well beyond the immediate work areas, and production was scheduled in coordination with school staff to keep spaces usable whenever possible.

The height of the gymnasium presented another challenge, particularly when repairing and painting walls extending to the ceiling line. Scissor lifts and boom lifts provided safe access to elevated surfaces and allowed the crew to maintain consistent coverage from floor to ceiling.

Drywall restoration also required precision. Rather than simply patching damaged areas, the team carefully blended new texture into the existing wall finish so repairs would be far less noticeable once painted. When exterior doors and frames were added to the scope, scheduling was adjusted around weather conditions to complete the additional work properly.

Special Equipment & Techniques:

A dedicated production manager oversaw the project, coordinating materials, scheduling, work areas, and walkthroughs with Frontier Academy staff. This consistent point of contact helped the team adapt as the scope expanded while keeping work organized around the school’s needs.

The relationship has also developed into ongoing maintenance, allowing CertaPro Painters^® of Boulder and Longmont to continue helping Frontier Academy keep its high-traffic spaces protected and looking professional as new painting and repair needs arise.
