Residential Limewash Exterior

This case study highlights the exterior transformation of a 450 sq. ft. home in Blue Bell, PA—enhancing the property’s curb appeal and protecting its surfaces through professional limewash application, exterior painting, and foundation coating services.

450 sq ft home in Blue Bell, PA.

2. What did the project consist of? How long did it take and were there any special requirements?

The project consisted of power washing the brick exterior, followed by masking and covering all shutters, windows, and light fixtures with plastic for protection. Sherwin-Williams Limewash was diluted with water at a 50% ratio, and a test area was applied for approval before proceeding. Once approved, two coats of the white limewash were applied to the brick surface.

The front door, door frame, sidelights, and sunburst were scraped to remove all loose and peeling paint. Woodpecker holes were repaired using Bondo and wood epoxy. All cracks and previously caulked areas were recaulked as needed. The repaired surfaces were then primed with Sherwin-Williams Extreme Bond Primer and finished with two topcoats of paint.

The concrete foundation was power-washed to remove dirt, dust, and debris. Cracks larger than 1/4 inch were sealed using Loxon or elastomeric caulk. Finally, two coats of Sherwin-Williams Loxon XP were applied to the foundation to help bridge and seal hairline cracks.
