The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia, PA

The problem to be solved:

The building is a museum and art school with gallery spaces on the first floor. It is an eleven-story building erected in 1917 and all projects with CertaPro have taken place on the first floor, in the Fisher Brooks Gallery. This is roughly a 6,500 sq ft space with 18’ high walls on the perimeter and 12’ high walls dividing the space. The building is located at 128 N Broad St in Philadelphia, PA.

Longevity prevails however, as the building’s interior receives consistent updates before and after hosted exhibitions in preparation for the next. The CertaPro Painters of Blue Bell team was tasked with carrying out said updates over the course of two and a half days in August 2023, spackling and painting the walls to match the theme of the upcoming exhibits. The project involved painting over white walls that had some nails holes and pencil marks left from previous exhibitions, as well as making use of a scissor lift. The painters worked with an Exhibition Preparator, Jacob Stevens, to determine the color layout, which was adjusted slightly in the early stages of the project and the crew was flexible to the changes. The colors used for the space were Rock Garden, Hyper Blue, Hint of Mint, and The Only PAFA White. Our team patched the walls and taped the areas that weren’t to be painted.
