K9 Advocates – Dog Rescue and Family Placement

Posted on June 7, 2021

Here’s how CertaPro Painters of Winnipeg, MB is working to make changes and give back to the community.

David Goggins Challenge

Franchise owners, Ken and Lynette have always had a passion for helping out their local community. As two dog lovers, Ken and Lynette always wished to rescue a dog of their own, but are unable to at this time. Instead, the two started a fundraiser to raise money for K9 Advocates Manitoba, a not-for-profit organization founded in 2015 by First Nations Nurse, Jasmine Colucci. The goal of K9 Advocates Manitoba is to provide rural First Nation communities with assistance to manage the overpopulation of stray dogs.

In order to pursue their goal, Ken Ferguson took part in the Goggins challenge in which participants run 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours. The goal was to raise roughly $10.00 for every mile they ran, totaling $480 if their goal was achieved. Remarkably, this goal was surpassed greatly as they ended up collecting a total of over $1,100 in donations for K9 Advocates Manitoba.
