Residential Case Study
Heritage House Exterior Painting
Project:
Our team recently completed an exterior painting project at a heritage home in Vancouver, BC. The property had not been painted for many years, leading to deterioration across multiple areas. There was significant wood rot, bubbling and peeling paint, and shingles that needed replacement. The project involved detailed restoration work, including the replacement of siding, window frames, and rotted wood, as well as the repair of rusted metal handrails. Once repairs were completed, the home’s exterior was repainted in new heritage-approved colours as required by the Vancouver Heritage Foundation.
Challenges:
Because of the home’s historic structure and design, this project required both precision and care. The front dormer and side elevations were difficult to access, making scaffolding essential for safety and efficiency. A large amount of sanding was also required to smooth the aged surfaces and ensure a long-lasting paint finish. All restoration and color selection steps were carefully reviewed and approved by the Vancouver Heritage Foundation to preserve the home’s character and authenticity.
Result:
This restoration took approximately two weeks from start to finish. The completed project brought new life to the heritage property, blending fresh, durable finishes with the home’s original architectural charm.
