Outdoor Recreation Retailer Painting Project
Outdoor Recreation Retailer Painting Project at All Minnesota Locations
Woodbury – Owatonna – East Grand Forks – Rogers
Cabela’s (a subsidiary of Bass Pro Shops) is an outdoor recreation retailer known for being a destination attraction for locals and tourists. Minnesota locations range from 65,000 to 185,000 sq ft. Each location has large log framed canopies and eaves, log siding, and stonework exteriors. Work was performed at the Woodbury, Owatonna, East Grand Forks, and Rogers locations.
Our expert CertaPro team was called to get these colors back to a standard uniform color. The team worked tirelessly to repair and correct deficiencies from wear and tear.
Our Certapro Painters of Twin Cities East are experienced with commercial outdoor recreation painting projects and we have the proper equipment and knowledge to complete these jobs as requested.
We were very pleased with the service provided by Certapro. The estimate was provided quickly and professionally. The team worked quickly and were willing to adjust small changes that we made as the project unfolded. The house looks great, and we are happy with the service and outcome.

CHALLENGES:
Each location presented a unique environment with specialized needs. Our goal was to provide a fast and efficient turn around with minimal disruption to the daily operation of each space. Our team utilized an articulating boom lift to maneuver around the log structure of the canopy. Expansion joints had the failing caulking cut out and backer rod replaced prior to a new application of sealant caulking to waterproof each joint. All exterior surfaces were power washed using detergents as necessary to remove heavy solid buildup. In some locations, our crews worked overnight to ensure the stores could maintain regular business hours.
CONDITIONS:
Each location takes the wear and tear of being one of the busiest brick and mortar retailers in Minnesota. Doors and railings showed heavy wear and a build-up of tarnish. Wood stairways showed heavy wear and a dull finish full of scratches. Walls contained dings of passing shopping carts, damage in need of drywall repair, marks, and smudges. Exterior surfaces showed years of tarnish and build upon the large log structures. Stained surfaces had sun fade and missing coating in some areas. Waterproofing along vertical and horizontal joints was failing and allowing moisture to pass through.
PROJECT INVOLVEMENT:
- Drywall repair to damage and cracked tapelines.
- Floor refinishing and application multi-component finishes.
- Painting of interior and exterior surfaces.
- Waterproofing and sealant application to horizontal and vertical expansion areas.
- Staining of exterior wood surfaces including overhead canopy system.
- Detergent scrub and heated power washing to remove years of exterior tarnish and build up.
