SCOPE OF THE PROJECT:

The transformation included full priming and repainting of the theater interior, including CMU block walls, drywall, the sloped ceiling, metal railings, classroom walls, ceilings, and cabinetry. All metal railings, bare CMU, false ceiling elements, and drywall received complete primer application to ensure uniform adhesion and long-term durability.

Our crew also completed drywall repairs, refinished fabric wall partitions, and applied high-quality coatings designed for institutional performance spaces. Painting acoustic panels and false ceiling tiles required controlled technique to preserve their functionality while improving appearance. The entire theater was brought back to a clean, modern condition suitable for school events, performances, and instruction.

CHALLENGES & SOLUTIONS:

This project involved several logistical and technical challenges. The theater remained in use, meaning painters had to operate around student schedules, restricted access times, and a strict sequence dictated by ongoing school activities. The sloped flooring and 35-foot ceilings required careful ladder and equipment placement, while the painted-black lighting fixtures created low-visibility conditions that complicated detailed work.

Coordination was also required with city inspectors and other contractors working swing and graveyard shifts, leaving little room for deviation from the established timeline. One of the most unique aspects of the job was the removal, reinstallation, and painting of the fabric wall partitions, which required precision to maintain structural integrity and a uniform final appearance. Despite these obstacles, the project was delivered on schedule and to the full satisfaction of the school.
