Manufacturing Cleaning and Painting Project
Commercial Case Study
In November and December of 2021, over the course of six weeks, the CertaPro Painters® of SW Metro team took on a cleaning and painting project for a local manufacturing business. At the start of the project, there was no doubt that the facility was dirty and in need of attention. There were large clumps of dust stuck to the ceiling, overhead piping, ductwork, bus bars and conduit. There were large cobwebs forming in the corners. The walls had layers of dust built up to the point where dust could be seen clinging to the nail heads of the sheetrock. In a few areas, there was a need for sheetrock repair from damage done by doors swinging open and equipment bumping against them.
Our team started the project by vacuum cleaning the ceiling areas to remove the excess dust and cobwebs. We then worked on hand washing the walls and making the necessary sheetrock repairs. Once the cleaning and repairs were completed, we painted the walls with a pre-catalyzed water based epoxy to help keep the dust from settling on the walls.
Our team was operating in a fast paced manufacturing production environment that required extra awareness of their surroundings to ensure the safety of our team, the manufacturers employees and equipment. A unique aspect of this project was the need for scissor lifts and articulating boom lifts to reach the higher areas of this space. Use of these tools requires special attention to maneuver around the employees, products and equipment to protect the team and prevent damage to the equipment. Safety is the most important part of any cleaning or painting job in a manufacturing setting
