CIBC Alberta, Bank Painting Project

CertaPro Painters® of Southern Alberta completed several interior painting projects for The Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce throughout Alberta

The problem to be solved:
CIBC needed to update all of their older Alberta branches to their new colours. The work needed to be done on a strict timeline without disrupting business. They were also facing the challenge of dated, worn substrates such as peeling, previously painted vinyl wall covering.

Problem solver solution:
What we had to do is identify what areas took priority first then work with the General Manager at each location. Once we had a list of what took high priority, we broke it down into what we could get completely finished in one night. All areas had to be completed and ready for staff to use the next day. All work had to be done at night, or on days that the branches were closed.
Crews had to be rotated depending on the types of repairs needing to be done at each location. This generally meant having crews traveling from city to city throughout Alberta to ensure that the proper experts were on the job.

Additional Challenges:
Security – All staff had to be cleared through CIBC before working on site. As well, the alarm sensors in some locations were extremely sensitive. On occasion, even sanding patches on certain walls was enough to trigger a trouble alarm.

Final result:
The banks were able to continue operation without shutting down any areas and continue to have painting work done in the time frame they had available on the calendar. We were able to meet their expectations by talking about time frames, priorities, and having the Branch Manager and CIBC Maintenance Team actively tell us if we need to change something. The key here was finding the solutions for them and offering them a few options that can work for their time and budget.
