Awesome DIY Paint Projects You Can do This Weekend

Posted on June 27, 2019

If you’re feeling the urge to update, you’re not alone. Now that summer is in full swing, try one of these awesome painting projects you can do this weekend. You’ll spruce up your home with a bit of work.

Stencils

Accent walls are an easy way to breathe new life into a room. Take it a step further and add a stenciled piece of art on the wall. You can incorporate the room colors into the stencil and pull the furniture into the scheme.

Furniture Makeover

Take an old piece of furniture and bring it into this decade with an updated color. This is a great way to bring a color into a rental unit or bland room. Try painting a dresser or end table as an accent piece. Bookshelves are a subtle change when you paint only the back panel. The color peeks out over the contents to surprise visitors.

Ceilings

Many homeowners neglect the ceiling as a place to put color. While it’s not the easiest project, it can still be accomplished with a weekend’s work. Many dining rooms make the perfect canvas for color, particularly if they have crown molding or other decorative pieces. Take a slightly tinted paint or full color to create a new feel in your room.

Chalkboard drawings

Give little ones a safe place to draw on the walls with chalkboard paint. Let’s face it, little ones will color on walls either way so why not make it safe space to do it. Use some chalkboard paint, available in many colors, to give your kids hours of fun and coloring on those stormy afternoons.

Front Appeal

Changing the color of your front door can change the feel of your home, as well as boost the curb appeal. Take inspiration from the flora around your home, the style or the accents painted on. Go with a dark black, bright red or similarly vivid color to increase your asking price if you are planning on selling soon.

Glamorous Bath

Many homes had a convenient half bath for guests to use. Show your dramatic side by adding some glamour to the bathroom. This is the one time that you don’t have to worry about the color making the room seem smaller. It’s tiny – and we all know it! It doesn’t have to match with the rest of the house either. This means all colors and styles are on the table. Paint it an appealing color, change out an old mirror and some decor to have a completely new feel.
