Ready to make a change?
A Historic Tribute to an Automotive Legend
CertaPro Painters of Santa Monica has had the privilege of painting some pretty big names when it comes to commercial real estate. We’ve painted retail stores, condos, and high rises. Our latest project, however, is one that we are exceptionally proud to have competed. The Carroll Shelby Foundation was preparing to host the first annual Carroll Shelby Tribute and Car Show, sponsored by the Los Angeles Shelby American Automobile Club (LASAAC), earlier this year. In anticipation of the event, we were contacted to paint the exterior of the facility with some very unique challenges. As you take a look at these before, during and after photos, let us walk you through the process so you can see the attention to detail that we provide for all of our commercial customers. Our dedication to customer satisfaction applies to each job that we do.
We provide all of our Santa Monica area commercial customers with free, detailed proposals and would be delighted to meet with you to discuss your project. Please call us or schedule your estimate appointment online!
The front of the building, as seen here, was pretty much your standard older building facade. The older paint is peeling in heavily weathered areas and the color scheme is pretty tame.
The back of the facility is more of the same. Nothing special here. Certainly nothing that makes you think of Carroll Shelby.
One of the things our customer wanted to include was the famous Shelby Cobra logo on one corner of the building. While we do not normally perform murals and logos, we do have lots of contacts throughout the painting industry and were able to bring in one of the best in the business for this particular project. Along with the exterior restoration and painting of the building, as described below, CertaPro Painters became the ‘one-stop-shop’ for the Museum’s painting needs.
In order to visualize what would be required to pull this off in regards to dimensions and other details, the image is projected onto the side of the building at night (for best visibility).
Based on what was viewed during the nighttime light show, the painstaking work of laying out the logo with painters tape begins. This, along with the signature artwork, was one of the biggest challenges during this project.
Fleshing out the signature isn’t exactly like taking candy from a baby, either. This, however, is where we shine. Attention to detail is a big deal for us, because we know that it’s important to our customers as well.
The final logo sits at the front right of the building, as looking at it from the parking lot. The fresh colors really bring the larger-than-life logo to the forefront when you pull into the lot.
Around back, where there was nothing before, there is now Carroll Shelby’s signature, highlighting the purpose for the building. This lot will be filled with show cars and visitors for years to come, all because of Shelby’s contribution to automotive history.
The view from the front of the building after we finished the project, showing off the logo. It’s a vastly different look than what we started with.
We were proud to be selected to handle the complex painting needs of such an icon of American automotive history. The building is now protected and looks great – consistent with the Shelby brand.
