Exterior Wood Revival
by CertaPro Painters® of San Mateo, CA
A Home Project in Redwood City, CA
CertaPro Painters® of San Mateo, CA was asked to assist with a residential project in September 2020. The stucco home was in good shape, aside from the wood siding that was predominantly located on the gables and detached garage. The caulked tongue and groove sections were in bad shape, requiring a Mad Dog primer to help extend its life.
The arbor in front of the home was varnished but was beginning to peel due to sun exposure. It had to be sanded down to bare wood before applying a new semitransparent stain. The new stain added a brand new look to the wood sections and added protection for years to come.
The white fence also received some attention due to its substandard conditions. The pickets were in poor shape with cracking paint and large amounts of dirt accumulation, especially at the base.
RESIDENTIAL CONDITIONS
Before the project began, CertaPro Painters® gathered images of the home’s conditions, helping pinpoint the problematic sections that needed the most attention by the team.
Worn Wood Sections
The wood sections of the home all needed improvements and new protections to bring it back to life.
Peeling Arbor
The varnish on the home's arbor was beginning to peel, potentially exposing it to sun and weather.
Worn Arbor Wood
The exterior wood was worn and the varnish was starting to fail on the entirety of the arbor.
Weathered Overhang
The wood overhang had a faded look due its lack of protection from the elements over the years.
Damaged Wood Siding
The wood siding had stains and spots, exacerbated by the caulked tongue and groove boards.
Weathered Gables
The wood siding on the gables were in rough shape along with the present on the detached garage.
Dilapidated Picket Fence
The white picket fence was dirty, peeling, cracking, and in need of a full renewal by the CertaPro team.
