Nearly 100-Year-Old School Repainted by Our Team
by CertaPro Painters® of San Mateo
Painting a Piece of History
We were hired to paint a private school in the Upper Rockridge area of Oakland CA. This school teaches grades K-8. The building was built in the 1930’s.
About the Project:
Condition of Facility:
This was an interior painting project. Due to the building’s age, there were a lot of exposed pipes and ducting that we had to work around. Nothing was really moved or put away by the school staff before we started. We had to work around the existing items in the classroom, and we put everything back as if nothing had been moved.
Project Involvement:
We painted the majority of the interior of the school. This includes (but is not limited to) several classrooms, the auditorium, the cafeteria, several hallways, and the library.
Special Challenges:
The building is older, so we had to paint around pipes and ducting. There was also a lot of stained/varnished wood trim (doors, door frames, windows, and chair rail), so we had to mask these items and cut in correctly.
Project Timeline:
We finished the work in less than 2 weeks. The customer wanted work started and completed during the winter break so we didn’t disrupt regular school. We put 3 crews on this project to meet the deadline.
Progress Pictures
The painting team of John as estimator, Lloyd as color consultant, and Luis and Antonio as painters were all outstanding , helpful and efficient. We enjoyed working with them.
