Commercial Case Study
Saratoga Springs Commercial Plaza
Commercial Retail Property in Saratoga Springs
CertaPro Painters of Salt Lake City came into this project to refresh an exterior retail commercial strip mall. The project scope consisted of prepping and painting the stucco of a 6,600 square-foot commercial space.
Problem to be solved:
Our client needed to update their exterior paint with a fresh new look, without interruption.
Obstacles:
We worked in warm weather and worked around the business hours of the retailers, specifically a gym that had a high attendance for morning workouts. We painted the front of the buildings when there were less cars.
Solution:
Preparations included power washing the areas to be painted, filling larger cracks in stucco, repairing three areas where stucco has been damaged, and caulking any areas where previous caulk may be failing. Sanding and/or scraping any loose or scaling rust and applying primer was also part a necessary preparation step prior to painting. The painting included one coat of Sherwin Williams elastomeric paint on stucco areas and two finish coats to any metal areas.
Outcome/Final result:
We used 5 different colors: SW6108 Latte, SW6258 Tricorn Black, SW6106 Kilim Beige, SW6076 Turkish Coffee, and SW7598 Sierra Redwood. Completed by Erasmo and team. Our crew coordinated the paint with an out of town customer.
Time frame:
May 2020, 5 days
Before
The building had been painted in a neutral color palette of browns and tans. There were repairs to the stucco and high traffic areas to take into account when working.
Road Facing Side
The exterior of this retail space includes numerous architectural elements making preparation like taping important.
Deep Colors
When painting the new palette on the building, steps were taken to ensure the new colors would remain vibrant over the dark colors that were painted on before.
After
The project involved drastically changing the color palette and repairing stucco cracks before adding vibrant colors of paint. Our crews worked to minimize disruption to businesses and traffic.
Deep Browns and Beiges
To work with the landscaping and surrounding colors, our team worked with a color palette that included chocolate brown, rust burgundy and creamy beige.
