Fireplace Makeover for Rockville Home

Our local Rockville team was contacted in March 2023 to lime wash the fireplace in this Rockville, MD home. Before our team arrived, the fireplace had red brick, which did not go with the rest of the house. The client needed a makeover to transform it while still being able to keep the warmth of the brick exposed.

Our Lime Wash Process

We used a slaked-lime paint. This product is designed to be easy-to-use and can be distressed, allowing you to test and create the look you want. Authentic lime wash paint is breathable and calcifies to unpainted masonry surfaces becoming like a rock, just as hard, yet still allowing moisture to evaporate, working naturally with the surface. Due to the high pH of the paint, it is naturally mold-resistant and has a high UV and fade resistance allowing the color to keep its depth and quality over time.

Brick Painting & Lime Washing

Bricks are a stylish and commonly used in Maryland for their ability to withstand weather. They stand up to moisture really well while looking great and keeping us warm in winter. With time, bricks can loose their color and vibrance, especially outdoors. The sun’s UV rays and heat can leach the color from the stone if you don’t step in to help. This is where our painters come in.
