Residential Exterior Painting Case Study

PROJECT INVOLVEMENT
In November 2024, CertaPro Painters® of Roanoke, VA, undertook a residential exterior painting project in Huddleston, VA. The home’s exterior showed visible signs of wear, including fading and chipping paint, while the front door had lost its original color, turning into a maroon shade.
Our team took careful measures to protect the surrounding landscaping, driveway, flower beds, and walkways. We recaulked all gaps and cracks, pressure-washed the exterior, and scraped away loose paint. Areas of bare wood were spot-primed to ensure durability, and the gutters and downspouts were thoroughly cleaned using a crud cutter before painting. Once the surface was properly prepped, we applied fresh coats of paint to multiple areas, including the concrete foundation, stairs, stair risers, fascia, roofline fascia, window trim boxes, front door, front stoop ceiling, columns, and the sides and rear of the home. The homeowner chose Sherwin-Williams Drift of Mist for the primary exterior color, paired with Sherwin-Williams St. Bart’s Blue for the front door.
CHALLENGES
One of the primary challenges of this project was navigating unpredictable weather conditions. To ensure steady progress, the job site supervisor closely monitored the forecast, strategically timing the prep work around periods of inclement weather. This proactive approach prevented major delays and kept the project on schedule.

The project was completed in 2 days.
