Residential Exterior Painting Case Study

PROJECT INVOLVEMENT

In August 2025, CertaPro Painters® of Roanoke, VA completed an exterior painting project for a home in Pulaski, VA. The property showed significant wear, including peeling paint on window sills, failing paint on siding and trim, deteriorated caulking, and buildup of dirt and grime that left the exterior looking faded. The porch and deck surfaces were also weathered and in need of renewed protection.

Our crew began by wet scraping peeling areas, hand washing targeted sections, and removing all loose paint. We replaced failing caulk, spot primed where needed, and power washed the entire home to prepare the surface. We then applied Sherwin-Williams SuperPaint (satin) on the siding and Porch and Floor Enamel on the porch flooring, stairs, and risers. Soffits, window frames, porch columns, concrete toppers, porch ceilings, door frames, and fascia were primed and coated with Duration Paint (semi-gloss). The rear deck floor, posts, railings, and stairs were finished with SuperDeck Solid Stain. The refreshed color palette included Dover White, Virtual Taupe, and Balanced Beige.

CHALLENGES

This project required thoughtful scheduling since the home was more than an hour away, and we needed to coordinate travel time around the homeowner’s availability. Rain throughout the week added another layer of complexity, making it essential to time the power washing and painting during the short dry windows.

PROJECT TIMELINE

The project was completed in 4 days.

THE FINAL RESULTS

The transformation brought the home’s exterior back to life. Fresh paint, clean surfaces, and renewed trim created a crisp, polished look that significantly improved curb appeal. See the before and after photos below!
