Kitchen Painting Case Study
PROJECT INVOLVEMENT
In November 2024, CertaPro Painters® of Roanoke, VA, completed a kitchen painting project in a Roanoke home. Before the painting began, the kitchen had several issues, including unpainted areas behind appliances, visible drywall, uneven paint, and leftover wallpaper.
The project involved extensive repairs, skim coating, and painting. Our team removed loose paint and failing caulk, then stripped the wallpaper, which required smoothing the walls with skim coating. After priming affected areas with Sherwin Williams Extreme Block, we spot-primed the ceiling. Finally, we used Sherwin Williams Interior Super Paint for the walls and ceilings and Emerald Urethane for the doors and trim, ensuring a durable, high-quality finish.
CHALLENGES
The primary obstacle of this project was the unexpected need for more extensive skim coating, which disrupted the timeline. Upon revealing the wall behind the refrigerator, we found areas that required additional skim coating. Since the compound had to dry fully before priming and painting, this extended the project by an extra day.
PROJECT TIMELINE
The project was completed in 2 days in November 2024.
THE FINAL RESULTS
The repairs and fresh coat of paint completely transformed the kitchen, giving it a revitalized look. The customer loved how it turned out! Check out the results below.
