China Hutch Refinishing Case Study

PROJECT INVOLVEMENT
Our team was hired to refinish two custom, hand-built China hutches. The hutches had the original coating applied by the builder and exhibited a few minor chips in the coating but were generally in decent condition.

CHALLENGES:
We scuff-sanded the surfaces, followed by a thorough cleaning of the cabinets with a degreaser. Subsequently, we primed the surface with a BIN shellac-based primer and applied a top coat with Sherwin Williams Emerald Urethane in Snow Bound semi-gloss. This project required sufficient ventilation and the use of respirators.

PROJECT TIMELINE
The project took place in January 2024 and was completed in 2 days.

THE FINAL RESULTS
The China hutches were beautifully transformed, showcasing a pristine semi-gloss finish that the clients loved!
