Residential Interior Painting Case Study

PROJECT INVOLVEMENT

In 2025, CertaPro Painters® of Roanoke, VA, completed an interior painting project for a home in Cave Spring, VA. The homes interior walls showed faded colors with chipped and peeling paint. They also wanted to refresh the current colors they had. The scope of work included the basement bedroom, basement red wall, two bedrooms, and a walk-in closet.

Our team began by preparing all surfaces for a smooth and lasting finish. This included scraping and removing loose or peeling paint, filling nail holes, replacing failing caulk, and spot-priming where needed. Because the home had deep red accent walls, we applied Sherwin-Williams Extreme Block primer tinted to a P-4 level to prevent color bleed-through. Once primed, the updated spaces were painted using Sherwin-Williams SuperPaint in a satin finish, providing enhanced durability and a refreshed modern look throughout the home.

CHALLENGES

The primary challenge of this project was ensuring the previous deep red paint did not show through the new lighter topcoats. To overcome this, we used multiple coats of high-quality tinted primer for full coverage before applying the finishing paint.

PROJECT TIMELINE

The project was completed in 2 days.

THE FINAL RESULTS

What had been dull and outdated interior spaces were transformed into brighter, cleaner, and more welcoming rooms. The homeowners received a fresh new look with a professional finish that will last for years to come. See the before and after photos below!
