Community Building Pool Ceiling Painting

In July 2023, the team of professional painters at CertaPro Painters of Roanoke, VA were hired to revitalize a ceiling overlooking the local YMCA’s pool.

The initial phase involved draining the pool and covering the floor to safeguard the tiles and surrounding areas. Because of the tile floor, we were unable to use any heavy equipment, such as a lift. We instead used 16ft ladders and spray guns to paint the ceiling. This project also required us to work around the fire impression system which was 14 inches from the ceiling.

Once the work area was secure we addressed the peeling paint on the ceiling by scraping away the old layers and preparing the surface for a new coat of paint. We used a specialized bonding primer to ensure optimal adhesion and a solid foundation for the subsequent layers.

Lastly, we applied a catalyzed water-based epoxy topcoat to refresh the appearance of the ceiling and also to protect the ceiling against future wear and tear.

We completed this project in three days and the final result was a fresh and revitalized pool ceilings the staff and members loved!
