Western Branch Diesel Exterior Painting Project

In October 2024, CertaPro Painters® of Roanoke, VA, was hired to repaint the exterior of Western Branch Diesel’s facility in Ashland, VA. Prior to our work, the facility showed signs of dull, chipping, and peeling paint, which not only diminished its overall look but also posed potential long-term issues. The paint’s deterioration suggested inadequate maintenance, allowing moisture to seep in and leading to possible damage such as wood rot or mold growth. Furthermore, a buildup of dirt and grime required power washing to restore surface integrity and prepare for repainting.

The team began by power washing the entire building. They then scraped away any loose or peeling paint, filled small holes, replaced failing caulk, and spot-primed as needed. After that, the crew primed the stone walls with Loxon Masonry primer before applying paint. We used Sherwin Williams Pro-Industrial Enamel Urethane Paint for the bay doors and frames. The siding, soffits, fascia, gutters, downspouts, smaller doors, and all door frames were painted with Sherwin Williams Pro-Industrial Direct to Metal Paint. We also painted the bollards in safety yellow with Pro-Industrial Enamel Paint. A 45-foot articulating man lift was utilized to enhance both safety and productivity.

One challenge of this project was the travel time, as the location was about 3 hours away. Our team needed to work outside of business hours to avoid disrupting daily operations, requiring effective coordination and communication to ensure timely arrivals.

We successfully completed the project in 3 days, delivering a fresh color change that improved the facility’s appearance and durability, resulting in a very satisfied customer. Check out the transformation below!
