Recreational Facility Stairway Painting Project
In October 2024, CertaPro Painters® of Roanoke, VA, was contracted to paint the interior and exterior stairways of a recreational facility that we have painted for previously. Before we started, the stairways showed signs of wear, with loose, chipped, and peeling paint on the railings, along with a buildup of grime on the handrails. The paint was particularly worn in high-traffic areas.
The team started by scraping away the loose and peeling paint from the railings. Next, they sanded the surfaces with medium grit sandpaper to ensure a smooth finish for painting. The crew then performed a deep clean of the stairways using Pre-Paint Muscle Clean to eliminate the grime on the handrails. After cleaning, the surfaces were thoroughly washed before priming and painting. They used Sherwin Williams Pro-Cryl rust-inhibiting metal primer to help prevent rust formation on the metal surfaces. For the final coat, they applied Sherwin Williams Pro-Industrial Enamel Urethane for a durable finish.
The primary challenge for this project was ensuring timely completion. Given that the building is a public recreational facility with frequent visitor traffic, the work had to be done quickly and outside of regular operating hours.
Our team successfully completed the project in under 2 days, working during off-hours. We rejuvenated the stairways with a fresh look, leaving the customer very satisfied. Check out the transformation below!
