Revitalizing a Home in Roanoke, VA
Posted on October 29, 2024
In August 2024, CertaPro Painters® of Roanoke, VA, repainted the exterior of a home whose paint was faded, chipped, and peeling. The project involved foundation repair, soft power washing, scraping, spot priming, and painting. The color change had to be performed while adhering to EPA guidelines throughout the entire process.
Challenges
Due to lead paint concerns, an EPA Lead Certified team was essential. Our crew took several precautions, including:
- Conducting a visual inspection and lead assessment
- Establishing a containment zone with plastic sheeting
- Sealing windows and doors
- Marking exclusion areas
The team wore personal protective equipment (PPE) and utilized lead-safe practices, such as wet sanding instead of power sanding. After the project, a HEPA vacuum ensured all debris was cleared, and lead-contaminated materials were disposed of properly.
Timeline
This project was completed in just seven days. The color change provided a refreshed look to the exterior of the house and the customer was thrilled with the results!
