General Questions

How much will it cost to paint my house?

The cost of painting a house varies drastically on what specifically is being done. We’ll paint anything from a couple of doors or just the trim of a house to full exteriors of all types of substrates from wood siding, stucco, cedar shingle/shakes, clapboard, to vinyl and aluminum siding. Interior house painting also varies depending on the layout of the room, amount of prep, amount of furniture, number of coats, type of trim, wallpaper removal, etc.

Do you have a project minimum?

We have a minimum of 1 man for 1 day that equates to $400 plus paint, materials, and soft supplies.

Is there anything that can change the cost of a project after a customer receives a quote?

It is uncommon for the cost of a project to change after a customer receives their quote unless there are unforeseen items usually pertaining to carpentry work. Pricing may change if the customer changes colors – typically 2 coats are required when this happens.

How much paint do you need to paint a home?

It depends on the scope of the job – size, color, number of coats requested. It could be anywhere from 1 gallon to 20-30 gallons of paint.

When is the best time to paint?

Interiors are painted all year round from January to December. Exteriors are typically painted approximately from March 15th until December 1st. Exteriors are dependant on weather conditions, as well as temperature (above 35 degrees).

How often should people paint their homes?

The typical re-paint for an exterior is anywhere between 5 to 7 years. Decks are typically painted every 2-3 years. For interiors, there is no set re-paint timing but is based on whether it’s high traffic or light traffic area. Also, people tend to paint interiors more often based on trends such as the changing of furniture or just wanting a new color.

How long does it take to paint a home?

It varies based on the scope of the job. It could be anywhere from 1 day to multiple days, again depending how large the project is.

Are you insured?

We are fully insured with General Liability insurance up to 2 Million, Workers Compensation for all employees, and Umbrella Insurance up to an additional 3 Million as well as Auto insurance for all our vehicles.

What licenses do you have?

We are licensed in NJ as a Home Improvement Contractor as well as Commercially licensed thru CertaPro Painters to do commercial work.

How many people do you send out for each job?

It depends on the scope of the work. Anywhere from 1 man to a crew of 5 or 6 men can be sent out for a job, again depending on how large the project is.

Is your team employees or subcontractors?

We typically use employees for our Residential work and both employees and Sub Contractors on our commercial work.

How will my project be managed?

We have a Job Site Supervisor on every crew who is the main point of contact on the job site for the duration of a project.

Is there a warranty?

Yes, we provide a written 2-year warranty.

How long have you been in business?

Tino has been with CertaPro Painters for 15+ years, and Phil Dell’Aglio has been with CertaPro Painters for 27+ years, dating back to College Pro Painters.

Can the painters work alone in my house?

Absolutely, our painters are all trustworthy and we have VERY LOW turn over in our business. Our painters are all very accommodating.

How many paint colors are included in your typical proposal?

It varies for interior jobs – interior can be one color the whole house or every room could be a different color. Exterior proposals typically include 2-4 colors or more. Traditionally you would have the main color, and trim color, and an accent color.
