Our team had the opportunity to paint the United Christian Church of Renton. They own and operated a large complex of buildings and service the Renton community. They requested CertaPro Painters of Renton/Kent, WA visit and consult with them regarding repair, restoration, and full repaint of the main church, office building, storage shed, and the Montessori school.

CHALLENGES:

Painting is what we do and there wasn’t anything particularly challenging about this project for us. Our main focus was ensuring the safety and convenience of the Church staff, members, and Montessori School Students. We made plans to paint effectively around their schedules and ensure access to the facilities for all events.

CONDITIONS:

The buildings were constructed prior to 1978 required EPA Lead Testing, which we made arrangements to ensure legal compliance and the safety of everyone attending the Church and Montessori School. We identified significant weathering and restoration work needed on two of the buildings which included removal of old paint, siding repair, full recaulking, deck/walkway restoration, primer application, and full repaint.

  • EPA Lead Testing – Since the building was constructed before the 1980s, it’s important that we test for lead for the safety of our workers.
  • Wear-and-Tear – Normal weather erosion. Paint fading and chipping.

PROJECT INVOLVEMENT:

This project involved a full wash, significant surface preparation, siding repair, full caulking, primer application, and painting of the building siding, trim, doors, walkways, decks, and steeple.

  • Preparation – Siding repairs, caulking, and primer application.
  • Special Equipment – Specialized equipment pressure washing, siding repair tools, extension ladders, spray pumps, and HPLV sprayers.
