CertaPro Painters of Provo Assembled a Team of 60+ Volunteers to Update Grave Markers at Winter Quarters No.4 in Scofield, UT
Posted on August 29, 2022
On May 1, 1900 at Winter Quarters No.4 in Scofield, UT an explosion happened that claimed the lives of more than 200 coal miners. Only about 50 bodies were ever recovered. Volunteers from all around assisted in hand digging a mass grave for those bodies they did find. Wooden markers were placed at the heads of those buried after the tragic disaster. Some years ago, new markers were made; but seasons are sometimes harsh in the area, so a little over 122 years later CertaPro Painter was asked to help coordinate a volunteer effort to protect the updated grave markers by staining them anew.
We are so grateful for the 60+ volunteers that came out last weekend from all around the region to help us honor those from our historic past. Thank You! #FirstServeOthers
