Barn Event Venue Painting Project
CertaPro Painters® of Plymouth, MI recently had the opportunity to complete this commercial exterior update project. The project took place in Dexter, MI, in October 2024 and lasted one week. It involved refurbishing a 2,000-square-foot barn owned by an event hosting company.
SCOPE OF THE PROJECT:
SCOPE OF THE PROJECT:The barn, used for photo shoots and weddings, retained its original lumber, which had aged significantly despite regular maintenance. The surface showed wear, including numerous holes from woodpeckers and carpenter bees, along with cracks and splits. Since replacing the damaged boards was costly due to the need for custom-milled lumber, the decision was made to repair the wood using putty.
CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS:
The work included careful pressure washing, wood putty application, and painting. One of the primary challenges was addressing the extensive damage without replacing the wood, requiring creative use of putty to fill gaps and cracks. Additionally, old layers of paint needed to be removed with precision to avoid further harming the delicate wood. After meticulous preparation and two coats of paint, the barn was successfully restored, significantly improving its appearance while maintaining its historic character.
