Kitchen Painting Service in Mount Lebanon, PA
Our painters were recently called out to a home in the Mount Lebanon community to complete a kitchen painting project. This project involved painting both the walls and cabinets. This project took 5 days to complete. You can learn more about this residential painting service below.
About the Project:
Condition of the home:
This family was not ready to do a kitchen renovation, but the current state was not livable. This is a beautiful home with a very dated kitchen. The kitchen is super small and the pain was peeling off the walls and the cabinets were the original cabinets from when the home was built in the 30’s. The cabinets had been painted once before and also had lots of dings and divits, grease, stains, and the insides were painted peach!
Project Involvement:
- For the walls, the project involved scraping all the failing paint off, filling the holes and divits, and patching effected areas.
- For the cabinets, we took the doors to our shop to sand, prep and spray and then we sprayed the boxes and built in’s on site including the inside of the cabinets.
- We switched hardware from single pull to 3 inch centers and sprayed all the hinges and hardware black to match the pulls.
- Then we rehung all the doors, drawers, etc.
- We used Sherwin Williams new cabinet paint called Gallery Series
Special Challenges:
The inside of the cabinets were painted with an oil-based super shiny paint. We had to prep and prime to ensure proper adhesion. The hardware had been on since home built and were caked with old paint, so we had to remove many layers of paint to get down to original hardware to remove.
Special Techniques & Equipment:
The Gallery Series must be sprayed so we used a High Pressure Low Velocity (HPLV) Sprayer. Because we sprayed boxes and cabinets onsite, we had to protect lots of counters, appliance, floors, etc.
