A Complete Interior Repainting Including the Kitchen Cabinets in Time for the Movers.

When a couple purchased a home in Upper St. Clair recently they had limited time between the closing and the move-in to have the interior repainted and the kitchen cabinets refinished. It’s not every day that these two projects are combined and also subject to a tight deadline. Fortunately, the new homeowners selected CertaPro Painters® of Pittsburgh – South Hills to handle the project.

Using two different crews and working inside of an 8-day window the painters were able to complete a very extensive amount of prep work and repaint the home in modern colors in time for the furniture to arrive.

Before work started…

You can see the years of neglect, wear and tear, and DIY repair attempts in the pictures below. The home displayed virtually every type of paint and wall damage you can experience and the existing paint had been on the walls for many years longer than most.

There were patches and touch-ups that were poorly executed, trim pulling away from the walls, cracks in the drywall, dings, scuffs, faded areas, and more. In addition, many of the closet doors needed to be re-hung in order to function properly. The prep work required sanding, patching, caulking in virtually every room of the house.

The existing color choices were also dark and dated with the kitchen cabinets being the primary reason the room looked dark and cave-like.

While the work was ongoing…

One crew focused on prepping and painting the kitchen cabinets including removing the doors, replacing the hinges and hardware, sanding, and then spraying the surfaces using an HVLP (High Volume Low Pressure) paint spray rig to create a perfect finish.

The other crew went room by room prepping wall and ceiling surfaces, sanding, caulking, and resetting trim, vents, and light fixtures. After the prep work, each room was painted in a color that reflected a more modern look and that created a better visual flow from one room to the next.

When the paintbrushes were finally set down for the last time…

You can see that the results have transformed this interior, especially the kitchen. The walls are uniform, the trim is flush, and the kitchen itself is now bright and inviting. The mismatched and dated colors have been replaced with a much more harmonious and up-to-date palette of colors that work well with today’s furniture. The homeowners felt like they had purchased a dated fixer-upper but ended up moving into a nearly new home and were thrilled with the results.
