Norfolk Southern Painting project

Norfolk Southern Painting Service
Our painters were recently called out to the Norfolk Southern train yard for a commercial painting service. We updated the offices, crew areas, lunch and locker rooms, bathrooms and exterior safety bollards and doors seamlessly. This project was completed in just 3 weeks. You can learn more about this unique painting project below.
About the Project
Condition of Facility:
The walls and floors were covered in coal, grease and graffiti. There were rusted bollards and doors on the exterior. We painted the interior walls, cove base, doors, frames, and bathroom stall walls. On the exterior we refreshed all the safety yellow and repainted the rusted doors bright blue.
Project Involvement:
Painting, drywall repair and cinder block patching
Special Challenges:
- Bathroom stalls were covered in graffiti so we sanded and spot primed with rust inhibitive primer and top-coated with polysiloxane
- Rusty doors – used rust-inhibitive primer and then used a FAST dry acrylic top coat to ensure doors could be closed for security purposes
- Floors were covered in coal and grease. So we needed to wash with de-greasing solution, rinse, scuff entire floor, rinse again and coat with a fast-dry acrylic as no area can be closed within facility providing a 1-2 foot traffic
Additional Details:
We have been hired back to do 2 more projects with this organization. The facility is a 24 hour facility, so it is 100% occupied and up and running the entire time.
