Historic Home Painting

This 100 year old Victorian home was in bad shape. It had peeling paint in all areas. This was particularly true since the metal siding as the heat makes the metal to expand and contract causing cracking and peeling. The home was painted over 10 years ago and was overdue for a new coating. Previous quality and technique were lackluster.

The home is converted shelter for the needy and required new fresh looking appearance. The homeowner selected us because of the reviews and attention to detail we provide. We also provided certified license, insurance and workman’s compensation information. He wanted the piece of mind of getting a quality paint job, no risk on the property or injuries and a local, reputable company.

CHALLENGES:

Due to previous care and the age of the home, our crew had to spend time preparing and repairing the siding and awnings for painting. As a shelter, the building needed to look fresh and clean.

The home was being used as a residence for the needy and mentally challenged with lots of foot traffic from the patients. Supervision was required to make sure there was no danger to the crew when up on the ladders as the building is quite tall.

CONDITIONS:

Peeling and chipping metal siding.

PROJECT INVOLVEMENT:

Repair – Minor repairs on metal siding.
Preparation– Heavy sanding on all peeling areas.
Detail Work– The homeowner wanted the window awnings painted inside and out and have the decorative trim painted a different color to stand out.

Before the project began we did an assessment of the building. A number of issues were found including failing siding, peeling paint and minor repairs necessary.
