Dick’s Sporting Goods in Oswego
Dick’s Sporting Goods is a leading sports themed retailer, with locations throughout the country, including here in Oswego, Illinois. Our local “DSG” needed a paint contractor that could not only paint the area under renovation, but provide carpentry (framing), drywall installation and repair services, plus follow detailed instructions to set up the new walls sales graphics and display paneling. Night work was essential to avoid sales disruptions. In January of 2021, CertaPro Painters of Oswego was called to repaint the Dick’s Sporting Goods shoe section; check out the commercial painting project case study below!

CHALLENGES:With set time lines and night work in mind, we coordinated two crews to complete the project on time. First our carpenter removed the existing TV wall exterior framing, then built a new frame to allow for drywall installation. The carpenter the measured out the “J” channels. In the interim, the paint painting crew masked the area and prepped the walls for painting and priming of the new drywall.
CONDITIONS:
The existing 152×18 foot wall was yellow, necessitating priming with a quality primer, tinted to 80% of the top coat color. Also an existing TV opening required framing and drywalling prior to painting.
PROJECT INVOLVEMENT:
In addition to framing and drywalling the existing tv area, the large art graphics required the measurement and placement of 40 individual “J” channels and later, black paneling to existing shoe racks.
