The Client Challenge:

In August 2023, the owner of this log home in Warwick, NY, came to us looking to have its exterior refreshed. The home was built in 1983 and had been neglected for some years before the new homeowner took over the property. Sections of logs had begun rotting and needed to be replaced. This resulted in new “raw” (never finished) logs being side-by-side with old weathered, dry, and cracked logs. The home’s exterior was also going to need a fresh stain to give it a refreshed look and protect it from the elements.

The CertaPro Painters® Solution:

After the rotting logs were replaced, we came in to wash and coat the house. The logs were coated with two coats of a water-based elastomeric log home stain with mildewcide and one clear finishing top coat. The windows and door frames also received two coats of a conventional solid wood stain. Daily moisture testing was also required as one side of the home was always in full shade and excessive humidity.

The Success and Result:

The project was completed over the course of three weeks. The final result was a log home with a beautiful visual refresh and strong protection from the elements.
