Commercial Case Study

The Client:

Originally established in 1996, the Renzo Gracie Academy is one of the world’s leading martial arts schools. The academy has several affiliates throughout the United States and international affiliates as well. Our client for this project was the Renzo Gracie affiliate academy located in Warwick, NY.

The Client Challenge:

In June 2023, the owners of this martial arts studio came to us for our services as they expanded their studio to a much larger space in a local mixed-use complex. The space was custom-designed and needed to be primed and painted. There were several substrates on the site including new drywall, steel, and galvanized metal which needed rust abatement. There also was utility piping and sprinklers in need of color-coding.

The CertaPro Painters® Solution:

Our crew completed the project in two phases as the work was being done alongside construction work by the builder. Phase 1 in June 2023 consisted of ceiling finishes prior to partition construction. And Phase 2 in August 2023 consisted of wall finishes.

We prepped, primed, and painted the sheetrock surfaces. We also used dryfall on the truss ceiling and painted the utility piping. A scissor lift was used for painting any high hard-to-reach places and an overhead sprayer was used for color-coding the sprinklers and gas pipes. Also, specialty paint systems were used for painting the different substrates.

The Success and Result:

When adding up the two phases, the project was completed in two weeks total working time. The final result was the facility looking fresh and ready to hold martial arts classes and competitions!
