The Client:

In November 2020, our team was hired to update and refresh the appearance of the Culver Randel Mill. This house and mill were built in 1830 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1998. It is located in Florida, New York.

The Client Challenge:

The mill is located in a ravine with an active stream passing under the structure. Setting up and working on the narrow walkways presented a challenge. Moreover, the siding, window, and trim suffered peeling and discoloration as they weren’t painted in 20 years.

The CertaPro Painters® Solution:

For four days, our crew of four worked on updating the mill.

Our process included:

  • Scraping loose and peeling paint
  • Power washing the siding, soffits, and trim
  • Filling holes in the siding and woodpecking.
  • Priming and painting the exterior:
    • Clapboard
    • Soffits
    • Trim
    • Entry door
    • Door frames
    • Windows

Due to the narrow workspace, our crew had to use a special 40-foot ladder and utilize extra caution throughout the project.

The Success and Result:

The final result was a rejuvenated building, both in look and sturdiness.
