CertaPro Painters® of Orange County, NY, supports Trex’s “Grassroots” Community Challenge Initiative

CertaPro Painters® of Orange County, NY, is a proud participant in Trex’s “Grassroots” Community Challenge Initiative. Trex collects post-consumer plastic film and turns the recycled plastic into eco-friendly outdoor products such as the bench pictured below!

George McManus, the father of our owner Brendan and a member of the Warwick Lions Club, turned us on to this great program! During his volunteer work with the Warwick Lions Club, George heard about Trex’s recycling program. He started collecting plastic film packaging for donations to the program, and his efforts resulted in Trex donating a bench to the historic Lewis Park in Warwick, NY.

We realized we could greatly help George’s efforts by collecting discarded shrink wrap from Sherwin-Williams stores. During our frequent trips to the store, we pick up their discarded shrink wrap and drop it off at a local depot. Although we just started participating a few months ago, we’ve been able to donate over 170 pounds of plastic film!
