Case Study: Gazebo & Splash Pad

Taylor Street Park – Wake Forest, NC

Project

The Town of Wake Forest partnered with CertaPro Painters® of North Raleigh, NC to restore and refresh a wooden gazebo at Taylor Street Park. The structure had aged over time and was showing clear signs of paint failure, impacting both appearance and long-term protection. The goal of the project was to improve the look of the gazebo while applying protective coatings to extend its durability in an outdoor public setting.

Process

The project involved repainting the wooden gazebo and applying epoxy coatings to enhance surface protection. Work began with surface preparation to address failing paint and ensure proper adhesion of new coatings. Multiple coats of paint and epoxy were applied to achieve a durable, uniform finish suitable for exposure to the elements and frequent public use. The project was completed in February 2026 and took approximately one week from start to finish, with all work completed efficiently and in alignment with project expectations.

Challenges

The primary challenge was completing the project in cold weather conditions. Lower temperatures impacted drying times, particularly for the epoxy application. To ensure proper curing and long-term performance, multiple coats of epoxy were applied, requiring additional time and attention throughout the process.

Result

The project was successfully completed within the one-week timeframe. The gazebo now features a refreshed appearance and improved protection against weathering and wear. The updated finish enhances the overall look of Taylor Street Park and provides a more durable surface for continued community use.
