Exterior Historic Home Refurbishing and Painting Project

Project: In May 2024, the CertaPro Painters® of North Raleigh, NC team was hired for an exterior painting project aimed at refurbishing and painting the exterior of the historic Alexander Dickson house in Hillsborough, NC.

Process: The CertaPro Painters© of North Raleigh, NC team took incredible care when completing this exterior painting project without damaging the historic material. Built in 1840, the Alexander Dickson house suffered from wood rot, mold, and mildew. Additionally, the surfaces contained a large amount of aged and peeling paint.

Initially, our team addressed the rot, caulking the old, fragile windows to seal gaps and prevent future damage. Given the extensive buildup of mold and mildew, we proceeded with a thorough pressure washing and cleaning process. This step was essential to create a smooth base for the new paint application while respecting the integrity of the original materials. Finally, the team carefully painted the exterior, ensuring a seamless and uniform finish on the delicate surfaces of the historic home.

Thanks to our team’s expertise and dedication to preserving historical authenticity, we successfully transformed the exterior of the Alexander Dickson house in just 8 days.
