Premier Surplus Warehouse in Dawsonville

CHALLENGES:

The facility remained in operation throughout the painting process, meaning, heavy delivery and shipping traffic hindered parts of the work on all days except Saturday. Our team lead worked with the facility manager to schedule a painting time that fit within the schedule of the business.

Airless sprayers and boom lifts were used to repaint the metal siding of the building. The structure was approximately 30 feet high, and would not have been possible without the professional expertise and equipment of CertaPro Painters.

Before the project began, CertaPro Painters created a general timeline to follow in order to get the painting done in a timely manner. To complete such a large project in under a month was a feat unmatched by painters in Georgia before us.

CONDITIONS:

Mold & Mildew – The metal exterior of the building hadn’t been cleaned in quite some time. Exposure to the elements led to the growth of unwanted germs on the exterior surface.
Chalking – Paint is fundamentally made up of a pigment and binder. When too much weathering occurs, this bond weakens, leading to the formation of a chalky powder on the exterior.
Exposed Location – Both sun and moisture damage were a problem for this structure and will continue to be; so a premium paint needed to be used for the best defense against paint fading.

PROJECT INVOLVEMENT:

Pressure Washing – A special additive needed to be added to our pressure washing mixture in order to deal with the severe mold and mildew buildup, especially on the back end of the building.
Priming – The entire building was primed with Sherwin Williams Loxon Conditioner, a perfect primer for the substrate and its chalking, and a further deterrent to chalking. When we first arrived, the major chalking on the powder coated finish was the biggest issue we identified.
Painting – We painted with 2 topcoats of premium Sherwin-Williams Pro Industrial High Performance Acrylic for the “white” (SW 7551 Greek Villa) and 2 top coats of Sherwin-Williams Sher-Cryl High Performance Acrylic for the “blue” (SW 6965 Hyper Blue) which will help reduce the fading that normally comes with vibrant blues.
