The Project:

In September of 2019, CertaPro Painters of the North Shore was contacted to repaint an office building in Park Ridge that still had its original coatings from the 1970’s when it was built. The paint was failing in certain areas, rust was present on railings, and caulk was also failing.

The building required an overhaul of the exterior, involving prep, prime, re-caulking the building’s exterior, and completely repainting all previously coated surfaces (windows, vents, siding panels, balcony railings, canopies/trim, and the building’s entry way). First, CertaPro Painters of the North Shore worked closely with the building’s designer and provided various draw-down sample boards to guarantee that the selected colors were perfect. The crew then required use of a 60ft. boom lift throughout the entire project, and needed to cover the entire building’s landscaping to protect it. Communication with building management was key to ensure office workflow was not interrupted, as the office still remained functional during the project.

Because the building is older, the original caulk did not match the new color scheme. To amend this, the old caulk had to be removed and replaced with a new, industrial-grade Urethanized Elastomeric sealant which allowed it to bond with the metal siding panels and the brick work. This also assures that it can hold up to the extreme Chicagoland weather.
