Our Latest Project: The JC Penny Interior Repaint

In February 2023, CertaPro Painters embarked on a notable commercial renovation project spanning across various locations in the United States. The task was to transform spaces previously occupied by Sephora within JCPenney stores into the new JCPenney Beauty sections. This project covered 11 different locations over a period from January to April, showcasing our capabilities in handling extensive retail transformations effectively within a tight timeframe.

The transformation process involved a comprehensive renovation of each location, which included demolishing old fixtures and installing new ones, thereby completely overhauling the former Sephora spaces. These spaces varied significantly in size, but all required a uniform approach to meet JCPenney’s new branding requirements and aesthetic.

At the start of the project, each facility was outfitted as a Sephora store, which meant that the existing designs and fixtures were tailored to Sephora’s distinct branding and layout. The challenge was not only to strip these elements but also to prepare and construct a space that aligned with JCPenney Beauty’s standards and visual appeal. This required a detailed strategy starting with the demolition of existing fixtures.

The scope of work was extensive and multifaceted. Initially, our teams undertook the demolition of the old fixtures, which was the first step in making way for a fresh setup. Following this, the project moved into the drywall and carpentry phases, where new structures and partitions were built according to the new design plans. Painting was a significant part of this transformation, involving not just aesthetic considerations but also the application of durable finishes suitable for high-traffic retail environments.

Lighting installation and the laying of new vinyl flooring were crucial to setting the right ambiance and functionality of the beauty sections. The base installation also played a vital role in ensuring that the new fixtures and furniture could be securely mounted and displayed attractively. Each element of the project was coordinated seamlessly to minimize disruptions and ensure that all renovations could be completed within the allocated 10-day window for each location.

This project was particularly challenging due to the logistical demands of managing multiple site renovations simultaneously across different geographic locations.
