Commercial Painting Project
The San Diego Convention Center, located in the heart of downtown San Diego boasts over 615,700 square feet of exhibit space and hosts many events including the world famous Comic Con.
About the Project
Due to the thousands of people that come through the convention center, many hours were spent prepping the areas prior to starting the painting.
PROJECT INVOLVEMENT:
We painted 670 commercial grade doors, and approximately 225,000 feet of corridors, lobby walls, and stairwells.
SPECIAL CHALLENGES:
A crew of about 10 painters worked together in different areas to be as efficient as possible. Our employees worked after hours when the center was closed. For the first 2 months and during the holiday season, our dedicated crew worked nights to make sure the convention center was completed on time for the client. In addition, the crews were then shifted to a fluctuating schedule of days and night shifts until the completion of the job.
Due to the heights in some areas, our crews were working on 60-foot lifts and scaffolding.
PROJECT TIMELINE
The project started October 23, 2019, and was completed on time on the day the client requested on January 10, 2020.
