Hello Haints
Posted on June 22, 2024
So many of us in New Orleans understand the tradition and importance of the front porch. We grew up running back and forth from our own porch to our neighbors to show off our latest toys. Then we shared them with friends to sip sweet tea and watch the kids expel their last doses of energy before the streetlights buzzed.
Through the years we’ve all seen the various sky-blue tints covering porch ceilings. Whether or not we realized it growing up, each of these blues goes by the same term, haint blue. Here are a few favorites from our CertaPro Painters of New Orleans krewe.
Sherwin-Williams has a few go-to blues to keep the “haints” at bay. Their Atmospheric is the blue-est of the 3 examples we have here. You can explore this color using SW’s Color Snap Visualizer here: https://www.sherwin-williams.com/visualizer#/active
Ewing Blue CW-585 This muted shade of powder blue is Benjamin Moore’s Ewing Blue and a perfect example of what you’ll find on a classic, Southern porch ceiling.
If you prefer a more contemporary feel to your porch ceiling, try PPG’s Goddess. It adds just the ideal amount of drama by using a slightly gray tint with light blue.
